Man wanted in two TTC armed robberies

TORONTO – Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect they believe is involved in two Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) subway booth robberies.

The first occurrence happened on Aug. 6 at the Chester subway station around 11 p.m..

It is alleged the man, wearing a black hoodie and bandana covering his face, approached the TTC collectors booth with a semi-automatic handgun and demanded cash.

The suspect was able to flee with money and metropasses.

The same type of robbery took place on Aug. 26 at the Christie subway station just before midnight with a suspect wearing similar clothing.

“We don’t get a lot of TTC booth hold ups, it’s kind of rare,” said Staff Inspector Mike Earl of the Hold Up Squad during a press conference Wednesday morning. “We take a big interest in these robberies.”
