TORONTO – Organizers of a concert by A$AP Rocky scheduled for Sept. 18 in Toronto have pulled the plug in light of an assault charge against the popular rapper.

The York Federation of Students (YFS) said Tuesday the event “cannot proceed until this matter is resolved.”

A$AP Rocky, 24, was charged with misdemeanor simple assault after Lisa Wade alleged she was slapped in the face by the hip hop star at a concert in Philadelphia.

A statement on the YFS website reads: “The decision should not be construed as suggesting that the YFS has any knowledge of the incident, or has a view on the innocence or guilt of the artist.”

A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, performed at Toronto’s Molson Amphitheatre in August as part of hometown rapper Drake’s OVO Fest.
