Charges laid in Sicamous hit and run

SICAMOUS, B.C. — A Sicamous woman has been charged in connection with a deadly hit and run case in the Shuswap community.

Troy Charlton, 49, of Sicamous was found lying on a street early Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle.

He was taken to hospital but died of his injuries.

A day later, a woman was arrested.

Charges of criminal negligence causing death, and impaired driving causing death have been laid against 46 year old Christina Laforge.

She has been released from custody and will appear in Salmon Arm court in mid September.

Police say alcohol appears to have been a factor for both people involved in the incident.
