CALGARY- A woman is dead after being hit and killed by a vehicle in the southeast.
Police say a female pedestrian was hit around 1:50 p.m., at 42 Ave. and Macleod Trail. She was pinned under the vehicle and died at the scene, despite the best efforts of emergency crews.
Witnesses say the man behind the wheel was frantic.
“He was screaming and yelling up and down and holding his head, and you name it, and he was doing it,” recalls Rob Rolston. “I hear it was personal.”
“The driver was frantic behind the car yelling ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry,'” adds witness Paul Young. “I don’t know what happened, I didn’t see anything leading up to it, I just saw it afterwards.”
The male driver has been taken into custody, and the Traffic Unit along with the homicide unit were called in to investigate.
So far, there is no word what led to the crash.
