Lake Country, B.C. — The new 4 lane highway from Oyama to Winfield officially opens Friday afternoon.
The celebrations will kick off at noon with a bike walk and run and the road opens at two.

After a ribbon cutting, there will be a vehicle procession along the new highway 97 with participation by local car clubs.
The old windy two lane by Wood Lake already has signs up proclaiming “Pelmewash Parkway”.
It’ll have the speed limit dropped to 50 kmh.
The new highway has been the subject of complaints from nearby residents. Some residents say the new highway will affect the value of their property. Click here for full story.
