TORONTO – After four years in Vancouver, the Canadian Videogame Awards are on the move.
The industry awards will be held in Toronto next March or April. There is no location yet for 2015.
“The intention has always been to have this a travelling awards show,” said Nicole Emmett, director of business development for Reboot Communications which co-produces the awards show.
Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver are the main video game hubs in Canada.
“They’re all so different but equally important to the industry as a whole,” said Emmett. “And we don’t want to ignore one area over the other. And our goal is to really be an inclusive show.”
The hope is also to raise awareness and visibility of the awards.
The awards honour games developed in Canada. They are produced by Reboot Communications and Greedy Productions and endorsed by the Entertainment Software Association of Canada.
Greedy Productions is a Vancouver-based company founded by Victor Lucas, whose TV properties include EP Daily and Reviews on the Run.
