Latest accessory for fashionable foodies? Le baguette bag

It’s not something to shake a stick at. The latest must-have summer accessory for fashionable foodies may soon be taking the world by storm.

Are you bread lover? Are you always dropping your baguette? Then the trendy baguette bag is for you.

Designed to ensure your baguette is safely transported en route from the bakery (or boulangerie) to chez vous, the baguette bag is 100 per cent cotton, comes in four stylish colours and features an adjustable strap.

“Place your just purchased bread into this stylish accessory and sling it over your shoulder,” notes the accessory’s description.

“Now you can bike or walk and carry other groceries in your hands without damaging the baguette.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The Ukrainian design company CYAN is showcasing the baguette bag on Wowcracy – a fashionista version of the crowdsourcing fundraising site Kickstarter, where the fashion community can pre-order items and help up-and-coming designers with their manufacturing costs.

“I’m getting great feedback, but due to the fact that the Wowcracy site just went live on the 10th of June, people have only just started to look at it,” CYAN designer Victoria Panyukova told Global News.

“But I hope that in time, we can say that the project is successful, because thousands of people are looking at it and now the Baguette Bag project is the most popular project according to statistics.”

A one euro donation towards the baguette bag will get you a personalized e-card, 15 euros will get you two bracelets from the CYAN Summer 2013 collection and 400 euros will net you 10 baguette bags in the colours of your choice and a handwritten thank you note.

Once the baguette bag has met its funding goal, the design team can start production. At the time of writing, it had reached four per cent of its goal.
