Rain forcing closures, postponements in Saskatoon

SASKATOON – Heavy rain in Saskatoon has forced some closures and postponements around the city.

The compost depots on McOrmand Drive and at the intersection of Highway 7 and 11th Street have been closed due to muddy conditions from the heavy rainfall.

The depots may open tomorrow if conditions improve.

Adverse weather has also forced the closure of both Lathey Pool and Kinsmen Park Play Village.

The city also cancelled street sweeping in Stonebridge East. Door hangers will be delivered to homes when a new date is scheduled.

Over at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway, racing tonight has been postponed due to rain and rescheduled for Wednesday at 7 pm.

Opening night of horse racing at Marquis Downs has also been cancelled due to rain. A decision for Saturday night racing will be made tomorrow morning.

Pride Fest community fair is being moved inside to Hall B at Prairieland Park starting at 7 p.m.

Thoroughbred racing at Marquis Downs has been cancelled for Saturday and rescheduled to continue on June 21.

Saskatoon and area is currently under a rainfall warning, with 50-80 mm of rain expected by Saturday evening.
