Fire in Marlborough home sparks evacuations

CALGARY- A number of homes had to be evacuated on Tuesday afternoon, after fire broke out at a home in Marlborough.

It happened around 4 p.m. in the 100 block of Marbank Way N.E. Six people were home at the time, but all managed to escape.

Several crews responded to the call, and when they arrived they found a working fire. They quickly managed to contain it, but the siding on the home was destroyed.

Neighbouring homes were evacuated as a precaution, and nobody was injured.

Fire crews stayed on scene to watch for hot spots, and are working to determine a cause. The arson unit is also investigating.
