Flory isn’t starting from scratch having served as the team’s offensive co-ordinator for three years.

However there’s still an adjustment process for both him and the team after 33 seasons under Brian Towriss.

Flory knows it won’t happen overnight.

“It’s a process, there’s no doubt about it, but it starts with understanding just how connected we all are and just how much of a team we have to be, top to bottom,” Flory said.

“That starts with me connecting everybody in this team, top to bottom, and that’s going be step one along many steps.”

Flory took another step in connecting with the players by surprising them with a round of paintball on Tuesday instead of a second practice session.

The players are adjusting to the changes Flory has brought to the team.

“Coach Flory has done a good job of telling us what he expects and the mentality that we need to have and we’ve all bought into that,” Huskies quarterback Kyle Siemens said.

“More than anything, there’s a little bit of a new energy,” added Huskies defensive lineman Matt Kozun.

“I think everyone’s charged up coming into camp a little bit and it should hopefully carry over throughout the whole season.”

Training camp continues this week, with the Green and White scrimmage on Aug. 18.

The Huskies head to Hamilton for a non-conference game against McMaster on Aug. 25 before kicking off the 2017 season on the road against Manitoba.
