Prominent landscape architects will be going head to head in a competition to design a new promenade park for Hamilton’s Pier 8.
City council previously approved the addition as part of the Pier 7 and 8 urban design study.
The promenade will be approximately 30 metres wide along the north and east edges of Pier 8.
According to the city, it should be a vibrant space for a variety of activities and waterfront amenities.
An external jury with expertise in areas such as urban design, arts and heritage will consider submissions in the coming months and ultimately pick the winner.
Construction is expected to get underway in Spring of 2018.
