Hamilton city councillor Matthew Green is looking for a new lawyer in a police hearing slated for August.
Selwyn Pieters has has been dropped from the case that accuses Hamilton police Constable Andrew Pfiefer of arbitrarily stopping Green for questioning in April of 2016.
According to Green, he decided to end his retainer with Pieters on March 17.
Pieters was also recently removed as council for Senator Don Meredith in what has turned into a high-profile ethics case.
Green’s search for a new lawyer will push the presentation of motions to June 1 and 2.
The hearing itself will be held throughout August at Hamilton’s Sheraton Hotel.
In a teleconference, Green objected to holding the proceedings at police headquarters, citing concerns over space for the public.
Hamilton police Constable Andrew Pfiefer faces one charge of discreditable conduct in the hearing.
