Editor’s note: Saskatoon police initially reported that the officer has been struck by a stolen vehicle. This story has been changed to reflect it wasn’t stolen.
A Saskatoon police constable who was hit by a car while chasing an alleged vehicle thief has been released from hospital.
The 14-year member of the force struck by a westbound car as he ran north across 33rd Street West.

He was taken to hospital by paramedics with what was described at the time as serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
A vehicle had been reported stolen at 3:55 p.m. CT on Tuesday from the 300-block of Avenue T North.
The vehicle had been left running with the keys inside.

Officers in the area spotted the vehicle and followed it to the intersection of 33rd Street and Idylwyld Drive where the driver abandoned it and fled on foot.
He was tracked to an apartment building in the 1100-block of Avenue B North, however officers were not able to determine his exact location.
Police officers received additional information just after 7 p.m. as to the man’s locating in the building and he was arrested.

The 23-year-old Saskatoon man has been charged with possession of stolen property. He was wanted on an unrelated warrant.
He is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on Wednesday afternoon.
No charges are being laid against the driver of the car who struck the constable.
