A petition has been started by the friends and family of Michel Vienneau – the Tracadie, N.B. man killed at a Bathurst train station in January 2015 – asking the province’s attorney general to have the two Bathurst police officers responsible for the shooting stand trial.

Const. Mathieu Boudreau and Const. Patrick Bulger were charged with manslaughter but the charges were dropped last month after Judge Anne Dugas-Horsman ruled that the prosecution failed to make their case after a preliminary hearing.
“Right now, that decision, or that non-decision to go to trial, means that we have two justice systems, one for the police and one for the civil,” said Camille McLaughlin, a friend of Vienneau’s.
Almost 750 people have signed the petition which will be delivered on March 20th to the office of Tracadie-Sheila MLA Serge Roussel, “to ask him to have the authorization to have a trial here to resolve the issue.”
“It’s not only for the family, the petition, it’s for everybody who believes in justice,” McLaughlin said.
