Halifax Regional Police are searching for a man they say assaulted a Subway employee before robbing the restaurant Friday evening.
Around 7 p.m., police say a man entered the Subway on Gottingen Street and demanded cash at knife point.
He allegedly hopped over the counter and assaulted the female employee before fleeing out the back door of the restaurant with cash.
The employee was not injured in the assault.
Police describe the suspect as a tall black man who was wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and black and white bandanna over his face.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Halifax police or Crime Stoppers.
