Saskatoon Blades topple Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-3

Kolten Olynek struck twice and Logan Flodell made 27 saves as the Saskatoon Blades toppled the Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-3 in Western Hockey League (WHL) action on Sunday.

Mason McCarty, Ryan Graham and Wyatt Sloboshan also scored for the Blades (9-11-1).

Tyler Wong had a pair of goals and Dylan Cozers had the other for Lethbridge (7-9-3), which has lost three straight. Stuart Skinner turned away 28-of-32 shots in defeat.

The Blades return home to take on the Moose Jaw Warriors on Thursday.

In other WHL action involving Saskatchewan teams, Sam Steel had a goal and three assists while Conor Hobbs and Filip Ahl each scored twice as the Regina Pats doubled up the visiting Red Deer Rebels 8-4.

Regina has won 10 games in a row, with its last loss coming in overtime against Portland on Oct. 12 and has not yet lost in regulation-time this season.

Adam Brooks scored once and set up two more for the Pats (14-0-3) and Dawson Leedhal tacked on three helpers. Chase Harrison and Jake Leschyshyn also scored.

Tyler Brown only had to make 17 saves for the win.

Austin Pratt, Carson Sass, Jeff de Wit and Brandon Hagel supplied the offence for the Rebels (10-9-2). Lasse Petersen did what he could in net, kicking out 53-of-61 shots in defeat.

Regina went 1 for 5 on the power play while Red Deer scored twice on six chances with the man advantage.

In Brandon, Logan Thompson made 36 saves through 65 minutes, then stopped all three shooters in the shootout as the Wheat Kings edged the Swift Current Broncos 3-2..

Stelio Mattheos scored the lone shootout goal while Jordan Wharrie and James Shearer built up a 2-0 lead in regulation for Brandon (10-7-3), which has won three straight.

Lane Pederson scored twice in the third period for the Broncos (10-6-5), including the tying goal with just 10 seconds to play. Taz Burman made 33 saves in a losing cause.
