Grab your popcorn, Canada. Our neighbours south of the border are set to choose a new president, in what promises to be a historic and dramatic finish to the U.S. election.

Though we may not have a say as to whether Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump will become the 45th president, the campaign has left many of us captivated with the state of American politics and the impact the election will have here in Canada.
But, meanwhile in Canada, many of us are taking to Twitter to anxiously await the final call of the election.
Some are left worrying that a Trump presidency could result in a wall being built around the U.S.-Canadian border, while others wonder if they should prepare for a influx of Americans seeking Canadian citizenship.

Throughout the campaign there has been a surge of Americans inquiring about a potential move to Canada, depending on the outcome of the election.
In March, an Ontario immigration lawyer told Global News he had been “flooded” with calls from Americans thinking about packing up and moving to Canada thanks to Trump’s ongoing success in the presidential race. And, according to Monster.com, the number of U.S. residents searching for jobs in Canada has gone up more than 50 per cent this year from last.
