NS RCMP charge Chester man who discharged firearm

Police have charged a 28-year-old man after they determined his report of an attempted home invasion was unfounded.

Sunday, RCMP received a call from a man in Chester, N.S., who claimed someone tried to unsuccessfully force their way into his home on Pig Loop Drive, leading him to fire his gun.

After some investigating, police determined no home invasion occurred and have laid charges of public mischief and careless use of a firearm.

The man’s name has not been released at this time. He is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater provincial court on Dec. 14.

RCMP are reminding people that discharging a firearm is not only dangerous but also illegal.
