Again in October, Kelowna had the dubious distinction of leading the province’s four major census metropolitan areas in unemployment.
The city’s unemployment rate was also up last month compared to September.
Numbers released by Statistics Canada Friday, peg the city’s unemployment rate at 8.0 per cent. That’s up from 7.3 per cent in September.
Around the province, Vancouver’s unemployment rate was at 4.9 per cent in October, Victoria’s was at 5.0 per cent and Abbotsford-Mission was at 6.4 per cent.
British Columbia’s unemployment rate was 5.8 per cent, well below the national 7.0 per cent unemployment rate.
Newfoundland and Labrador was the weakest of the provinces with a 13.6 per cent unemployment rate in October.
