We’re kicking off Variety Week on Global BC, highlighting stories from children and families around the province who have been helped by Variety.
Kristy Gill was on Global News Morning to explain what this week is all about:
Last year Variety introduced us to Markus, a B.C. boy diagnosed and treated for brain cancer. On Global News Morning, Markus joined us via Skype to learn learn how he’s feeling now and about his trip to the iZombie film set.
Vickie Ayers, one of Variety’s most dedicated supporters, is celebrating her 18th year hosting her haunted house in Coquitlam. Entrance is by donation, and all funds go to support Variety.
Many Variety grants are distributed to individuals and organizations that promote the use of music therapy. One of the more unique programs is the Bandwagon program. Bandwagons are bright red recording studios on wheels. Music therapy for the Bandwagons is provided by registered music therapists through Music Heals. By funding five Bandwagons for each of the five health regions across B.C., Variety has helped to ensure the continued success of the program.
