A Chicago Cubs fan may have actually predicted the outcome of the 2016 World Series some 23 years ago, in a 1993 yearbook quote.

The Cubs are looking to do something the baseball club hasn’t done in 108 years – win the World Series, and the team is currently tied with the Cleveland Indians at one-game apiece in the fall classic.

Though the outcome of the series is still at least three games away, one fan predicted the Cubs will be crowned World Champions way back in 1993.

Apparent Cubs fan Michael Lee etched forever in time in his Mission Viejo High School a bold baseball prediction.

“Chicago Cubs. 2016 World Series Champions. You heard it here first,” Lee wrote under his senior year photo.

Lee’s prediction surfaced earlier this week after the man’s classmate took to social media to share a picture of the yearbook.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Speaking with the New York Post, Marcos Meza said he remembered the yearbook quote back in 2009, after he connected with his friend through Facebook.

“I always thought that was the coolest quote I’d ever seen: ‘You heard it here first,’” Meza told The Post. “Mike said, ‘I can’t believe you remember that! I threw my yearbook away.’ So I pulled out my old yearbook and sent him a photo.”

Meza told the newspaper that he’s a Dodgers fan and when the team failed to advance to the World Series, he was waiting to share his friend’s old prediction.

“I was just waiting, and when the Dodgers got eliminated, I jumped back on the Cubs bandwagon,” Meza told The Post. “From there, it’s gone viral and people are even claiming it’s Photoshopped.”

Turns out, the photo is legit.

Speaking with Chicago’s WGNTV News, Lee explained why he decided on the yearbook quote.

“I’m like, ‘I don’t know what to put, I’m not a big literature person,’” Lee told the news station. “And then it came to me, I’m like ‘oh I know, I’m gonna put this.’”

Lee explained the quote stemmed from a dream he had when he was a kid. The Chicago native attended high school in California before moving back to his home town.

“I’m excited. I’m excited for Chicago, I’m excited for Cubs fans,” Lee told WGNTV News.
