It’s an example of the ugly emotions that have sometimes boiled over when it comes to Vancouver real estate.

More than two dozen signs belonging to one realtor have been vandalized.

Realtor Melissa Wu has been in the business for 12 years, but had never seen the Chinese spelling of her name completely cut out of signs outside homes she’s selling.

“It could be competition, it could be vandalizing, but the way he just cut out my Chinese name, it’s really disturbing,” she said.

In total, 26 signs have been vandalized in the last two months – and there is now video of one them, where a man can be seen using a knife to remove part of the sign.

“I don’t know what to think. It’s wrong, it needs to stop, it’s harmed her business, she’s now a little bit afraid,” said Jill Sinclair, CEO of Black Diamond Realty, Wu’s firm.

Vancouver Police are investigating.
