Two-school facility breaks ground in Willowgrove

Construction began today on a $39.8-million education facility that will house both a catholic and public elementary school in Saskatoon.

In addition to the Saskatoon Public and Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Division schools, the education facility will also have an integrated joint-use child care centre.

Students are expected to fill desks at Willowgrove Elementary and Holy Family Elementary in 2014.

Combined, the facility will educate more than 1-thousand students, ranging from pre-school to grade eight.

The provincial government has contributed $24.9-million towards this project.

“We believe that investing in education is paramount to the success and future of Saskatchewan,” said Education Minister Russ Marchuk.

The facility is expected to be completed in April, 2014 with classes starting in the fall.
