Teen charged with drunk driving after crash that killed father, daughter

TORONTO – A 19-year-old facing a lengthy list of charges in a horrific crash that left a father and daughter dead in August has been granted bail with strict conditions after he appeared in court Friday morning.

Sebastian Prosa was slapped with a dozen offences, including impaired driving causing death stemming from the violent crash.

He faces two counts of impaired driving causing death, two counts of criminal negligence causing death, two counts of dangerous driving causing death, two counts of driving with over the legal limit of alcohol in his blood causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, and driving with over the legal limit of alcohol in his blood causing bodily harm.

Prosa is alleged to have been driving the wrong way on the eastbound Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) on August 5, 2012, when his vehicle crashed head-on with another car carrying 49-year-old Neil Wijeratne, his daughter 16-year-old Eleesha Wijeratne, and his wife Antonette Wijeratne.

The high-speed crash killed both Neil and Eleesha.

Antonette was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

Prosa used crutches to slowly walk up the steps to the courthouse on Friday morning for his bail hearing. He is being released into the custody of his parents on $100,000 bail.
