Popular daytime soap General Hospital just did an emergency recast for Tyler Christopher, who plays Nikolas on the TV show, after he “took time off” during contract negotiations.

Now GH needs to solve this dilemma once again for Kirsten Storms; her character Maxie Jones will have to be temporarily recast after Storms said she’s taking some time off from the show.

Storms previously took medical leave from General Hospital from September 2011 to August 2012, and Jen Lilley temporarily stepped in to play the character. Lilley is now a permanent fixture on Days of Our Lives, so she’s not a viable alternative this time around.

ABC has confirmed that former Days alum Molly Burnett will be temporarily taking over for Storms.

There has been no elaboration on why Storms is taking leave from GH, and no mention of any medical problem.

Burnett will start appearing as Maxie Jones in July.
