Wildfires continue to grow near Manitoba-Ontario border

Two wildfires near the Manitoba-Ontario border continue to grow, as firefighters and water bombers douse the area hoping to extinguish the flames.

High winds caused the wildfire in Caddy Lake to grow north Tuesday, according to the province. It’s not known how large the fire is as of Wednesday.

There are also two new fires at Little Grand Rapids, which are 1.5 and 0.5 hectares in size.

The province said “intense fires” at Beresford Lake fire are due to dry conditions and high winds. Water bombers continue to douse the area in order to help put out the flames.

Firefighters are also installing sprinklers in cabins in the area.

On Tuesday, the province said the fire at Beresford Lake was 56,000 hectares, and the one at Caddy Lake was 5,100 hectares.
