Mario Lopez has addressed the rumours that he could possibly replace Michael Strahan as Kelly Ripa’s new co-host on Live with Kelly and Michael.

Lopez, 42, told Ellen DeGeneres on her show that the rumours are “very flattering.”

“I know people were saying that,” he said. “I love Kelly. I’ve guest-hosted with her a few times; She’s awesome. I actually did a movie with her husband Marc [Consuelos], who’s a real good guy. I’m looking forward to going back and guest-hosting again.”

DeGeneres went on to press the Saved by the Bell actor about the speculation, but his response was muted and coy.

“[I’ve] got to go over everything with Mrs. Lopez,” he said of his wife Courtney Laine Mazza. “She’s the real boss of the house so we’ll see what she has to say about that.”

The interview happened a few days after the Daytime Emmy Awards were handed out on April 29.

Ripa and Strahan both won awards for “Outstanding host in an Entertainment Talk Show,” while Lopez took home a statue for his work on Extra (which won “Outstanding Entertainment News Program”).

Disney has yet to confirm or deny the suggestions that Lopez may take over as co-host, though they previously stated on-air auditions to find Strahan’s replacement will begin May 16.
