Manitoba Bisons kickoff football season on September 1

WINNIPEG – The Manitoba Bisons football team will jump feet first into this year’s Canada West schedule with a season-opening game against the Calgary Dinos.

The Herd will host the Dinos at Investors Group Field on Thursday, Sept. 1. Calgary has finished first in the conference the last six seasons.

Manitoba plays its first game on the road the following week in Regina before returning to campus for a season-high two game homestand.

Six of the Bisons’ regular season games will be played under the lights with a 6 pm or later kickoff.

Manitoba’s annual homecoming game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24 against the Saskatchewan Huskies. A rematch of last year’s conference semifinal against UBC will take place on Sept. 30.

The Bisons close the regular season at Investors Group Field on Saturday, Oct. 29 versus the Regina Rams.

The Canada West playoffs begin Nov. 5. The 80th Hardy Cup will be played on Nov. 12.

Manitoba ended last season in third place with a 5-3 record but was eliminated by UBC in the semifinals.

Week 2 – at Regina Rams 7 pm
Week 3 – vs Alberta Golden Bears 7pm
Week 4 – vs Saskatchewan Huskies 1pm
Week 5 – at UBC Thunderbirds 8pm
Week 6 – Bye
Week 7 – at Calgary Dinos 8pm
Week 8 – at Alberta Golden Bears 2pm
Week 9 – vs Regina Rams 8pm

Nov 5 – Canada West semifinals
Nov 12 – 80th Hardy Cup
Nov 19 – Mitchell Bowl
Nov 26 – 52nd Vanier Cup
