WATCH ABOVE: A dynamic grass fire and wildfire situation across Alberta continued to change Tuesday night as Parkland County officials lifted an evacuation order and Lamont County officials said fire crews in that area had a wildfire under control. EDMONTON – A Lamont County official told Global News a wildfire that destroyed two homes and over a dozen other structures was declared under control Tuesday night.

The fire was deemed under control as of 8:37 p.m. but fire crews will remain at the scene throughout the night to watch for flare-ups and to monitor hotspots.

Two firefighters were injured while battling the blaze but both are listed in stable condition.

The fire started Monday at around 1:15 p.m. and spread quickly.

A number of homes were evacuated Monday night.

The fire had burned between 12 and 15 square miles by 1 p.m.

On Tuesday, residents were told evacuation was still recommended but not mandatory. There was no state of local emergency in place.

Lamont County was under a complete fire ban as of Tuesday morning.
