Crews spent the morning mopping up after a big two-alarm fire in Burnaby.
The fire started at an old golf driving range, near a Shell Canada oil distribution terminal on Hastings Street and Kensington Avenue.
“The structure in the back was fully involved, so when we arrived the flames were probably about 60, 70 feet high,” said David Graystone, Burnaby fire battalion chief. “So we called for a second alarm. We have about 28, 30 people here fighting the fire.”
The fire has now been extinguished, but the investigation is ongoing.
The fire also affected the morning commute as it shut down Hastings Street in both directions between Sperling and Fell.
The road has since been reopened.
