In the early hours of April 13, 2013, an explosive device denoted at the home of Amsel’s ex-wife, Iris Amsel. She lived there with her partner.

The explosions caused damage to the outside of the home and vehicle at the residence.

The couple didn’t wake up from the explosion, but only recognized damage to the house and vehicle after it happened, said RCMP.

A neighbour, Dave Kane talked with Global News back in July 2015 about the explosion. He said the explosion was so loud it knocked him “right out of bed.”

“I live on the other side of the house and have 12 inch walls of insulation, and it was really loud like a plane crash,” Kane said.

The next day he said he noticed the brick walls of the house were black, which have since been fixed.
