Two men found safe after staying overnight on B.C. mountains
WATCH: Search and Rescue teams are asking people not to venture out alone after two men spent the night lost on B.C. Mountains. An Alberta snowboarder was rescued at Red Mountain Resort, while a snowshoer hiked own way out near Cypress Mountain – Feb 14, 2016

It’s been a busy weekend for search and rescue crews in B.C.

A missing snowshoer and his dog made their way to safety after getting lost on Cypress Mountain Saturday night.

North Shore Rescue searched for the man who emerged safe and sound after taking care of himself and his dog overnight.

The snowshoer was last heard from near the summit of Mount Strachan Sky Chair. He texted his wife at approximately 5 p.m. to say that he and his dog were headed back down to the parking lot from the top of sky chair.

North Shore Rescue said the man got lost after his dog ran off.

Elsewhere, crews searched for a missing snowboarder at the Red Mountain Resort near Rossland. An Alberta man failed to return from a day on the slopes and three crews were brought in to locate him. Poor visibility hampered search efforts.
