A Washington woman was critically injured Thursday when she was shot in the chest during a screening of 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi after an “intoxicated” man fumbled with his gun, police say.

Police in Renton, Wa., said a woman was found inside a movie theatre suffering from a gunshot wound.

“There was a gunshot and we thought it was a light bulb exploding in the theater, so no one really reacted,” an unidentified witness told CBS-affiliate KOMO News.

The woman was taken to hospital in critical condition.

“Preliminary accounts indicate that an intoxicated suspect entered one of the theaters and was fumbling with a handgun he had in his possession when it went off, striking another patron seated in front of him,” Renton Police said in a statement.

Local news outlet KOMO News reported the gunman was arrested after his father called 911 late Thursday night and told dispatchers his son was distraught because he dropped his gun at a Renton movie theater and it discharged.

Police say the 29-year-old suspect, who has not been identified, is now in custody and could face a number of criminal charges.
