The Fredericton Police Force has confirmed that police Chief Leanne Fitch is being investigated by the New Brunswick Police commission.
In an email to Global News, a spokesperson said they were aware of a complaint against the Chief, and that they, “cannot comment at this time, as it’s under investigation by the NB Police Commission.”

The city of Fredericton also confirmed the complaint, but would not comment further on the investigation.
“I can confirm that I have received a complaint against the Police Chief and that the complaint has been handed over to the Police Commission for follow up and that they will be investigating. That is as much as I can say at this point,” CAO Chris MacPherson wrote in an email.
The Fredericton Police force has been plagued with controversy over the past year.
On Jan. 6, the Force confirmed that after a hearing and arbitration, Const. Cherie Campbell was fired as a result of being arrested and charged with shoplifting in 2014.
Days before her firing, two Fredericton Police officers were charged with multiple offences, including assault and uttering threats, by two other Forces in the province.
Chief Fitch and Mayor Brad Woodside both released statements on Thursday of last week saying they stood by their force despite the issues they’d been facing recently, and that they had complete confidence in their ability to keep the city safe.
Another officer, Jeff Smiley, was fired last year after Chief Fitch made a complaint with the commission following a domestic assault investigation in 2014.
Smiley was also accused of improper storage of personal firearms, keeping a shotgun loaded and asking a fellow officer to conceal or withhold information pertaining to the firearms.
