FREDERICTON – The mayor and council in the New Brunswick capital are making it much easier for Syrian refugees to get around their new city.
A motion to grant free transit service for a year to Syrian refugees was approved in principle at Monday’s city council meeting.

With concern of overcrowding the existing service the free passes will not be usable during peak hours such as 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
500 Syrian refugees are expected to receive the free passes which the city estimates are worth approximately $320,000.
