WINNIPEG — American Association All-Star Adam Heisler is sticking around Winnipeg for another year.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes re-signed the outfielder to a second season on Monday afternoon. Heisler finished 12th in the league with a .328 batting average last year. He was also third when it comes to stolen bases with 44, sixth in total base hits with 123 and tied for fifth in sacrifice flies with seven. Heisler’s final season statistics included 64 runs, 18 doubles, four home runs and 44 RBI.

“Adam is coming off an amazing season,” said Goldeyes manager Rick Forney. “Offensively, he proved to be a real weapon. He was the total package as a table-setter last year. Adam is a real nice combination of batting average, speed, and power. Defensively, Adam was as good as any outfielder in our league. He covers a lot of ground and has an accurate throwing arm.”

FISH FLASH: Goldeyes catcher Ryan Babineau has announced his retirement from professional baseball. The 29-year-old played in 57 games with Winnipeg last season, hitting .218 with a single home run.
