Three years later, Sheet Harbour double murder remains unsolved

File / Global News

HALIFAX — The murders of two Nova Scotia men who were killed while out getting a Christmas tree, remains unsolved after three years.

The remains of Earle Stewart, 59, and Matthew Hebb, 22, were found by emergency personnel after they responded to a structure fire off Highway 374 near Sheet Harbour, N.S., on December 12, 2012.

Both men lived on Herring Cove Road in Halifax, and it’s believed they were neighbours.

RCMP have never said how the men were killed but did deem their deaths as homicides.

Two people were arrested shortly after the pair’s bodies were discovered, but were released after questioning. No charges have even been laid.

RCMP say they are hoping that anyone with information about the case will come forward and speak with investigators with the goal of “ultimately leading to an arrest in this case.”
