REGINA – The provincial government announced Monday it is spending $330,000 to cover three Moose Jaw Police Service positions in 2015-16.

The three positions will be dedicated to Serious Crimes and Enhanced Community Policing in Moose Jaw. The money for the positions comes from the Municipal Police Grant.

“These funded positions provide us with an enhanced ability to analyze the factors contributing to crime and disorder and put effective evidence-based prevention and enforcement strategies in place,” said Moose Jaw Police Service Chief Rick Bourassa.

The provincial government annually provides money to urban police services across the province, to support 125 municipal police positions and initiatives.

The Municipal Police Grant is part of the government’s commitment for 120 new police officers in Saskatchewan.
