KELOWNA, B.C. – To better serve young athletes who desire to excel at volleyball, a former Okanagan athlete has returned to open up a training centre.
Tammy Thomas, a professional volleyball player and former UBC-Okanagan student, has opened Stone House, the T2 Elite Volleyball Training Centre.
Thomas named the facility after her father, the late Jim Stone, who started the South Okanagan Volleyball Association in Penticton.
She has recruited 10 coaches to train athletes from 7-17 in the game. Teams representing Stone House compete at high levels of the sport.
The Centre opened in October on Windsor Road in Kelowna, but Thomas has been personally training Okanagan athletes for four years.
