Search crews are renewing their pleas for people to have proper hiking gear as the weather gets colder after a 15-year-old boy went missing on the North Shore this Sunday.
The teen was hiking in Lynn Canyon Park with his family when he got separated. He had gone ahead of them and planned to meet them in the parking lot but missed a turn and went the wrong way.
His family called 9-1-1 and North Shore Rescue sent 10 volunteers to find him.
The boy decided to sit down and stay put as darkness fell and he was eventually found.
Some popular hiking routes — like the Hanes Valley and Lynn Headwaters — have been closed because there is a lot of snow on the ground.
