Travellers can expect prices for flights to be higher early next year

As Canadians log on to travel websites or place calls to airline call centres to book flights, many will realize they will soon be paying more to fly.

The good news? Certain new fees won’t be in place until after the Christmas holiday period.

The bad news? The new fees be in place in early January.

Among the higher charges?

Westjet will start charging $25 for the first checked bag on international economy flights.

The airline also be charging economy and flexfare passengers an extra $10 for the second bag–bringing the price to $35.

At discount carrier Sunwing, gone are the free meals and drinks on domestic and U.S. flights as of January 5.
