A minute of silence was held Monday across much of Europe to mourn the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris.

Crowds gathered at makeshift memorials in many cities across Europe to join in solidarity with France to honour the 129 victims of the terrorist attacks that rocked Paris Friday evening.

French President Francois Hollande stood in a crowd of students from Paris’ Sorbonne University to mark a sombre minute of silence, while others gathered outside of the locations where the deadly attacks occurred.

Elsewhere, mourners gathered at several French embassies to join France to honour the attack victims.
