WINNIPEG — It’s moustache-growing season in Winnipeg.

The month-long campaign known as Movember has officially started. It’s aim is to spread awareness and raise money for prostate and testicular cancer as well as men’s health programs.

Movember has continued to grow in popularity since it began in 2003. Last year 115,358 people participated across Canada raising over $24 million. In Manitoba there were 3,538 participants who raised $530,104.

This year the campaign is introducing the MOVE, 30-day fitness challenge.

Participants who sign up must complete some kind of physical activity each day during November. It’s also meant to raise funds and awareness for men’s health.
