WINNIPEG — If you’re looking for a way to kick off the Halloween celebrations early, the Assiniboine Park Zoo is hosting the perfect event for Winnipeggers.
From Oct. 23-31 the zoo is holding its Halloween Spooktacular in honour of Bat Appreciation Month.
Visitors who wear a costume will save 25 per cent off regular admission during this time as well.
There will be special Halloween-themed activities for families and visitors of all ages, such as underwater pumpkin carvings by the Zoo’s very own aquatic diver.
The carvings will take on Oct. 30-31 at 1 o’clock at the seal viewing area in Gateway to the Arctic.
Visitors can also take part in the spooky scavenger hunt. Visit five of the eight featured Spooky Spots to complete your checklist. Checklists can then be submitted to Wild Things Unique Gifts, located inside the Zoo entrance, to receive Halloween treats.

- 2:00 pm – Wolves at the Journey to Churchill wolf exhibit
- 2:30 pm – Bearded dragon lizards in Toucan Ridge
- 3:00 pm – Great grey owl in the North American Bird area (beside the Bison Snack Shack)
