Highway construction worker dead after workplace accident

REGINA – A construction worker who was working west of Fort Qu’Appelle has died after a workplace accident.

Police were called to Highway 56 just before 6 p.m. Wednesday where a man was operating heavy machinery (a compactor) as he was re-paving the highway. The machine left the road, causing a fatal injury.

The 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP and Occupational Health and Safety are currently investigating the workers death and an autopsy was requested by the attending coroner.
