Peel police seek 4th suspect after officer, civilian shot

BRAMPTON, Ont. – Peel Regional Police are seeking public help in identifying a suspect linked to the overnight shooting of a police officer and civilian in Brampton.

Spokesman Const. Thomas Ruttan said the officer was responding to a 911 call in the area of Stokes Road at around 10:20 p.m. Friday when he was fired upon in his cruiser.

The officer was hit by a single shot but was able to drive away from the scene and was in a local hospital where he was listed in serious but stable condition.

He said a male civilian who was shot at the scene prior to the officer’s arrival was taken to a trauma centre in critical condition. Police say both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested two men on Friday night and another on Saturday morning, but are searching for a fourth male suspect considered to be armed and dangerous.

Police describe the suspect as black, wearing dark clothing.
