CALGARY – Police have charged a 46-year-old man in relation to the 2013 murder of Anthony Fernandez.

Fernandez, 19, was reported missing on Boxing Day.

Police discovered his body in a car parked in an alley in the 1200 block of Colgrove Ave. N.E. the next day. At the time, officers said they believed it was possible Fernandez’s body was in the vehicle from December 24 onward.

On Wednesday, police announced Terry Wingert had been charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death.

A second individual taken into custody by police was released on Wednesday morning, but officers said he remains a “strong person of interest.”
