UPDATE: Friends identify victim in suspicious death

CALGARY – Friends on social media are identifying a victim found dead in a parked car in northeast Calgary as Anthony Fernandez, a young Calgary man missing since Christmas Eve.

Family members originally reached out through social media to try and locate Fernandez who had not been seen since the evening of December 24.

Calgary Police would not confirm that Fernandez is the victim in a suspicious death in the city’s northeast Friday.

Emergency crews were called to an alley in the 1200 block of Colgrove Avenue N.E. around 3 p.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle.

Officers arrived to find a deceased person inside the vehicle.

Calgary Police is not releasing information on the identity of the person or how they died.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Area residents say the vehicle had been sitting in the alleyway since Christmas Eve. It was towed Friday night.
