Sheik who claimed to own Ferrari seen speeding through Beverly Hills leaves U.S.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – A Middle Eastern sheik who claimed to own a Ferrari caught on video zooming through a Beverly Hills neighbourhood has raced out of town.

Police on Thursday say it appears that Khalid bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar and the cars are gone.

The luxury sports car and a Porsche were caught on camera zooming down narrow streets and blowing through stop signs on Saturday evening until they finally pulled into a driveway with the Ferrari’s engine smoking.

Police say arriving officers were told by al Thani that he owned the cars and had diplomatic immunity.

But Police Chief Dominick Rivetti says it’s unlikely Al Thani has such immunity.
