Gay marriage denier Kim Davis gets trolled by billboard in hometown

Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who was temporarily jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, is getting a big reminder that biblical references to marriage shouldn’t necessarily be taken so literally.

Planting Peace has erected a billboard in her hometown with a message to Davis using a loose biblical reference.

“Dear Kim Davis, the fact that you can’t sell your daughter for three goats and a cow means we’ve already redefined marriage.”

On its website the organization blasts those who pick and choose which interpreted religious rules and beliefs to preach, while looking over other “lines of scripture.”

“Planting Peace has constructed a message for Kim Davis and the anti-LGBTQ movement. The intent of the billboard is to expose this narrow interpretation by Davis and others that they use to defend their discrimination against the LGBTQ community.”

The non-profit organization, which promotes equality and peace, has previously been in the news for buying a house across from LGBTQ-hating Westboro Baptist Church in order to paint it the colours of a giant rainbow flag.

On June 26 the U.S. Supreme Court legalized gay marriage, opening a floodgate of happiness and triumph for champions of gay rights. At the same time the ruling unleashed a wave of anti-gay sentiment, with Davis becoming the face of religious persecution when she was thrown in jail for her actions.

Meanwhile, Davis has been called a hypocrite by some after it came to light that she has been married four times.

Seemingly unperturbed, on Friday Davis filed an appeal that would allow her to continue blocking marriage licenses for gay couples.
